“Parco Rignon” and “Villa Amoretti”
|
The park “Parco Rignon” is a rare synthesis of art, nature and beauty.
There you can find meeting places, bowls games and a wonderful library; you can stroll and let children meet each other among the flower beds, in a safe and educational entertainment place.
The park “Parco Rignon” also represents a history pause, an ancient fragment amid the modern streets of the outskirts.
The 1760 late baroque villa by architect Plantery tells about an elegant past time, where once “everything was countryside”.
The 1906 liberty gardens by architect Chevalley remind us that such an elegant past is not very far. Inside the park there is the house “Villa Amoretti”, named after abbot Giambattista Amoretti and probably buit according to his will; in 1899 it was purchased by earl Paolo Luigi Rignon, who gave his name to the park.
By a central double ramped stair it is possible to enter the house, whose architecture is symmetrical.
On 27 May 1955 the town council approved the purchase of the park, and on 20 October 1970 decided also the purchase of the villa on behalf of the city of Turin. The library inside the villa was inaugurated on 2 May 1977.
